A set of colored iron plates in fractional pound sizes.
Olympic plates typically only come in 2.5lb sizes and higher. With one on each side of the bar, you're forced to go up in 5lb jumps. With these you can move your way up in 1/2 lb jumps.
This is useful for exercises where you aren't lifting a lot of weight with a particular exercise and a normal 5lb jump is too much. It also helps advanced lifters get past sticking points.
