About Exercise Machines for Abs
Abdominal exercises are useful for building the abdominal muscles.
Some of the most effective devices and exercise machines for abs:
- Vertical Knee Raises - Done in a power tower, or with ab slings hanging from a pull up bar.
- Inverted Situps - Done on an inversion table. You may not be able to do many at first, but as you build strength it becomes a very effective workout.
- Ab Wheel - Very portable. Sit on your knees, lean forward with the wheel, and see how easy it is to return back. Not so easy! One of the best exercise machines for abs.
- Exercise Tube Pull - Anchor the rubber resistance tube to a doorknob or other sturdy object, lie on your back, grab the handle and perform crunches. This can be more effective than regular crunches, because you are working against both vertical resistance from gravity and horizontal resistance from the tube.
- Exercise Ball Crunches - Very popular nowadays, and effective due to the need to constantly stabilize your body on the exercise ball. Other exercises can be done on the ball that also hit your abs.
- Ab Board or Ab Bench - Nothing fancy, but decline ab boards are still one of the most common tools around for ab workouts.
Abdominal training will strengthen and build your abs, and if your abs are out of shape, they will pull in some, resulting in a thinner looking appearance. However, ab training isn't very effective for spot fat reduction, ie: reducing belly fat. Burning calories by cardio training is the most effective way to burn overall body fat, which will include belly fat.
